Each week Dan Barber, Fergus Head, Reece Mowlem and Owen Turner pick one team who is a lock and certain to win their game and one team who will cause a shock and win their game despite being the underdog. Below are this week's picks.
Dan Barber Lock: FALCONS over Bills What the f*** happened in the NFL last week. It was as though we entered some parallel universe where the normal rules of football didn't apply. For a start the Jets picked me up a win in my team of teams - a win I never thought I'd get. I digress. The Falcons will beat the Bills this week. They have too much firepower against a questionable Bills team. I expect them to continue their unbeaten streak. Shock: JETS over Jaguars Now I know I just called last week a parallel universe, but I'm gonna go bold. The Jags absolutely dominated the Ravens last week to the point of embarrassment. They do have the unfortunate task of travelling back from London to the play the next week however, something that teams don't usually have to do, because they get a bye. Perhaps the Jags will be brimming with confidence this week, expecting to walk in and wipe the floor with the New York Pushovers. Something tells me it might not be so simple. But then again, perhaps things will return to normality this week. Who knows? Fergus Head Lock: FALCONS over Bills Falcons beat the Bills in a game where Matt Ryan throws for over 400 yards for the first time this season. He bounces back in a big way against a solid team, who have just come off the back of beating one of the best teams in the league. Shock: REDSKINS over Chiefs Redskins beat the second AFC West team in as many weeks, shocking the football world with their sneaky defense again, holding Kareem Hunt to his first game under 100 scrimmage yards. Shocks, after last week, appear to be easier to predict than locks... Reece Mowlem Lock: PATRIOTS over Panthers I actually found it difficult picking a lock this as last week has just thrown everything up in the air. New England didn't look great against the Texans on Sunday, but I think they'll have it easier this week as a shaky Cam Newton roles into town without a couple of his main offensive weapons. Oh and Tom Brady will throw for 400 yards again (probably). Shock: CHARGERS over Eagles Philly were my lock last week and thanks to a monster kick from Jake Elliott, I was proved correct. This week, however, I'm not as confident in the Eagles as they travel to Los Angeles to face a Chargers team without a lot to prove. Add to this that the Eagles are missing quite a few key players through injury and I wouldn't be surprised to see the Chargers break their losing streak. Owen Turner Lock: PACKERS over Bears For the second week in a row I'm going for my Green Bay lock. Was a close run with the Bengals for them last week with overtime required to keep my 100% run going. The Bears had a great win against the Steelers last week but they don't stand a chance against a superior team on the road. Shock: RAMS over Cowboys There are a lot of even looking games throughout the NFL this week, so it was difficult to identify possibilities for actual shocks. I've settled on the Rams beating the Cowboys as the most likely outcome. This is mainly due to the performances of the Rams offense this season, with Goff easing some of the bust concerns to rest and Todd Gurley returning to form. The Cowboys haven't been that impressive this year, especially the beating they took from the Broncos in Week 2. I think if the Rams focus in on stopping Zeke and force Prescott to put up 20 points, I reckon the Rams come through with the win. (side note brag, it's one thing to be 100% in Locks, but in Shocks it's damn impressive... Congrats me)
